31st December 2011: Nothing's worse than having two papers on the day before New Year. It was actually the worst as I already had another tough one the day before those two. Despite been having sleepless night I was thankful as my migraine didn't get that bad. I can still recall how I ended 2010 with Sakinah and Faten at Mahallah lounge last year. It was a 'funny' and memorable one. Like-a-G6 partayyy.lol. So for this year, we had the merrier one, with more lovely people; Hani, Khairina, Farah and her family :) We were actually expecting more to join but yeah, they already had their own plans. We spent the New Year's eve together at Lanson Place Ambassador Row, Kuala Lumpur. What's fascinating about this hotel is that the KL view seen from this hotel (we were specifically at the 18th level) was amazing. Like, cool gila. No jokes. So we managed to watch the fireworks show without having to be among the crowds! but yeah, camera sucked. I didn't manage to capture the good ones. But below is the view at 7.12am :) It was damn cold. The fog explains this. Yadda yadda yadda~~ we did some fun stuff; playing games, watching movies, etc, before calling it a day. We did have some group pictures which are meant for personal collection only.

Migraine; symptoms and whatnot.

I've no idea what I had faced till I ended up being suffered from migraine again. The last time I got a migraine was about less than two years ago. It was last Tuesday, when I found out it finally hit me again T.T. Mind you, though it's way worse this time, there's nothing to be regretted, as I learned a lot from the endurance of this sickness and indeed, I grew stronger; mentally. Alhamdulillah.

The symptoms include a severe headache that occurs usually on one side of the head. In my case, it's the right side. There are also cases where it is on both sides of the head but it is occasionally rare. There's a lot you can tell about migraine and other ordinary headaches.

Other migraine symptoms include a sensitivity to light, vomiting, nausea and sensitivity towards any kind of sound. Basically, those who have migraine like me, can't handle crowded places, sunny weather, etc. That explains why I never leave home without bringing along my umbrella. and that may also explain why I hate going to crowded places namely night market. Migraine sufferers always like to relax in the dark and quiet place and most of the times, only relief is obtained after vomiting (happens to me a lot, these days). It is a recurring condition which has no fixed timings or periods. It can't be completely cured but can be controlled in terms of frequency or number of occurrence.

Migraine may occur when or after one or more of these:

Being too stressed out, depression, physically tensed.
Certain food such as Chocolate, those contain MSG, those contain tyramine like chicken and nuts. Onions, peanut butter, deary products.
Such surroundings where there's an excessive use of perfume, noise, smokes; be it from cigarette or other sources.
Drastic change in sleeping time.
Missed meals.

.:. Hence, migraine can be avoided by avoiding these things from happening.

Types of migraine:

The common migraine where the person suffering from it will not encounter any "auras".
The migraine which is combined with "auras" where the person has visions about flashes of light and may also see zigzag lines or blind spots in their visions. S/he may also feel some tingling sensation in the legs or the arms. (mine is this one!) only God knows how painful it is T.T

As mentioned before, there are many ways to be adopted in getting relief from migraine:

Take medications that are prescribed by doctors or pharmacists,
Lying down in the dark and quite room.

p/s: say NO to migraine. Final exams are just around the corner. so stay calm and relaxed :) In whatever condition you are now, always be strong! may God bless :)

I don't understand why do some people are so into spreading rumors about somebody; be it true or false.

Well maybe they just don't have a freaking life to be concerned on, or they are just envious of other's good life for theirs are pathetic. Poor thing.

It's effing funny to see how carelessly they made assumptions (to be specific, stupid assumptions) and jumped into their own silly, irrational conclusions and most pitifully acted as if they posses the wisest mind in the world. pffftt.

This week has been a crazy one for me. oh, next week will be crazier! well, none can expect campus life to always be easy and comfortable to live in. Been living this way since 2008 hence shouldn't have behaving as if I just entered the entrance. But things somehow went beyond my control hence had caused for my sudden insanity. Thanks a million to the family members, BFFs, as well as the significant other for keep standing by me in whatsoever conditions I had faced, am facing and will be facing. Love you all to bits :') You all mean the world to me.

oh, the highlight of next week ain't the three presentations I'll be giving but the last subject pre-registration I'll be doing! *excited much, huh? lol. Final semester shall be exciting after all, but just by thinking of it makes me dwell in sadness :(

Enough with emotional piece. Back to the point, that just shown that with Allah's will, next semester will be the final one and I'll be graduating next year. While others have begun thinking of the jobs, etc, I am pushing myself to the limit to work harder so that I can directly continue doing Masters in Education (TESL) which will automatically fulfill my parents' wish. They know best. They always will :)

to keep being motivated. *didn't have one during the eldest's. sigh.

Indeed, my elder sisters are my inspiration. Enough said. All the best to all!

been baking Chocolate cake this way since high school days. what I 've found so far is that nearly only girls love eating this. 'cause it's full of chocolate. some said it's like the real one. well, no comment. I personally like it hence been ignoring other methods plus recipes all this while. do it yourself, taste it, and judge :)

among the main ingredients.

excluded in this picture; Sugar and Water. oh, the eggs shall be 5 in total.

let's begin! :)

(1) Pour 1 cup of sugar into a cooking pot.

Next, 1 cup of cocoa powder. (same cup)

After that, pour a cup of plain water, and stir well.

Cook for 5-7 minutes, on minimum heat, until all 3 ingredients are well-mixed.

(2) Pour a cup of sugar (again,use the same cup) into your mixture bowl.

Then, a cup of butter or margarine. Mix well for around 3 minutes.

(3) After sugar and butter looks well together (haha), put 5 eggs (one by one) into the bowl.

(4) Next, pour the cooked chocolate mixture into the bowl and mix well.

(5) After a few minutes, put 2 cups of flour, little by little.

(6) After they are all well-mixed, put a teaspoon of vanilla essence into it and stir well. done!

(7) *Bakar pada suhu 180 celcius for around 40 minutes.

Double-boil technique for the topping.

This date highlights my very first day teaching at SLEU as a tutor for Basic English class. Having only five people seemed cool in the first place but it turned into a bit tough the moment I found out that one of my tutees is not capable of speaking English at all and to make it worse, we don't speak any similar language. Sucks, doesn't it? However, Alhamdulillah, Allah had made it easy. Way easier than I thought. Everything goes well now. Alhamdulillah. I am really grateful for that. -A blessing in a disguise. Will never ever forget that :)

Up to this day, I had been stressed out to the max. Personal problems, assignments, etc had driven me insane. Well, to be more narrative, both of us. We had fun (like, really2 fun) at Wangsa Walk. Take my word for it. It surely isn't a typical documentary show. All stories are the ones which had never been revealed before. The real story is not the danger, the bombs, the war or even the Taliban, but the ordinary Afghans, doing ordinary things, in the face of ever present danger. The reality is that the relentless danger seems to breed a certain kind of person. -People who know that it's easier to keep their heads down under fire but have the courage to stand up anyway.

Apart from that, I love the presenter. I adore your accent, Sabour Bradley.

Awesome documentary! The best one I ever subtitled :) since it's a 60-minute show, MYR90 will be on its way. ka-ching! :)

Good day, beautiful! Salam alaik, Salam 22 Ramadhan too :) It's 2.37am and as usual I ain't sleepy yet. My sleep pattern has drastically changed. Thanks to this effing long semester break. ohmy~ even after subuh pun fresh lagi. Around 8am baru la pening-pening lalat but by that time my eyes would refuse to close, 'cause I don't sleep after subuh. I'd break the habit if I do. Hence in that half-asleep condition, I'll force myself to finish up all house chores; laundry, dishes, etc. For previous sleepless nights, I spent the whole hours reading novel, blog-walking, Youtube-ing, etc. Since I've been doing it repeatedly I don't feel like doing the same thing tonight. I was about to sleep when I suddenly looked at the laundry basket besides my bed. Maka jadi lah fitting room bilik saya malam ni. heee~ I occasionally did this in UIA too. Ex-room mate J.1.5, Cik Atiqah knows this bad habit very well kan? Haha!

Most of my class mates will be enjoying their second last semester with less contact hours than mine but me...? huhu padan lah muka for taking only a few contact hours on previous semesters.

huahua never mind lah, I do enjoy tight schedule! 20 days to go before new semester begins. I'm so looking forward to attending classes, 'suffering' for assigned tasks, yadda yadda yadda,... with the awesome besties :) To whom it may concern, let's rock it yaww~~! XOXO :)

Howdy, world! :) hey, let's just say that I'm so effing bored at home that I suddenly came up with this lame post. Yeah, I surely am. I was reading a novel when this topic suddenly popped into my head. Hence I left Lala land for a while and began listing. So here are some of what I managed to think of and preferred to share:

My eating habit depends on my mood. I'm a health conscious but there are times where I can surprise people around with my big appetite. I have a sweet tooth too. Chocolate is my all-time guilty pleasure! grr~

I lead an active life. I do things fast. When assigned with tasks, I'd be the first one to come up with plans. I somehow have pity on my group mates for having to follow everything I've planned for, unless they have better things to go on with. I easily get annoyed by people who do things slowly and insufficiently. LOL. no offense!

I dislike studying for tests. I don't spend much time on revising. I prefer paying good attention in class. I'm more enthusiastic in completing assignments or preparing for class presentations. Well that may explain my preference on practice, rather than theory.

I talk a lot and easily get amused by petty things / jokes. If I happen to talk less, it must be that there's no chemistry between me and the other person and most probably, I ain't feeling comfortable. Another reasons may be that I'm sleepy, hungry, in pain, or that person just bores me to death. If I don't laugh at your jokes, that means either they are lame, or, I dislike you. As simple as that. Well, everyone does too, right?

I dislike group get-together. I prefer hanging out with only one friend in a time, so I can pay more attention towards that particular person. This shows that I love two-way communication and individual approach.

'Music' can be one of the keywords to describe me. Sometimes only music keeps me sane and rational. LOL. I'm that kind of person who always has his earphones on his ears, a song in his mind. MP3 player is one of my most prized possessions.

Reading defines me. Many kinds of reading material fancy me especially English novels and magazines. I can't handle Malay typical love novels. As far as I could recall, I'd only finished reading one so far. However it's funny that despite the fact that I enjoy reading novels, I rarely finish in such a short time. I need a few months (during normal semester) to finish a single novel. That's just 'cause through reading I'm also dragged to that particular fantasy world. I fantasize a lot. and of course, I daydream too. haha! and yeah, apart from that, I also enjoy short stories :)

I ain't friendly in virtual world. I don't chat, except I wish to do so. I appear invisible or 'busy' all the time. Only chatting with the closed ones interests me. But I entertain private messages and emails. yang berkaitan saja lah. I even tweet for myself. But I still do for others, sometimes. I also ain't a phone person. I ignore unknown calls and dislike answering any and replying to unimportant SMSes. I hope your definition on 'unimportant' is similar to mine hihi. I only entertain those I regard as significant people in my life. But mind you, there's a laundry list of 'em.

I've gotten bored of listing these things. Haha!

Hey, loves. Salam to all :) it's the fourth day of Ramadhan! I thank Allah for His endless blessings. Alhamdulillah. I just can't wait to finish this semester break as I can't really stand still at home. I ain't having such limitless activities like I always have in campus. But yeah, never mind, it's family time and I'm enjoying every single second of it. Alhamdulillah, I've been managing to perform my fasting duty, including Solat Sunat Tarawikh during the nights since the first day of Ramadhan. But one thing to be regretted is that since I'm just being home all day, most of the time had been spent with sleeping huhu. Well I just can't help it. I wake up early, around 3.50am in the morning to prepare sahur. Basically I help mom out by reheating main courses and preparing other side dishes. Tak de ape pun, (reheat lauk pun pakai microwave huahua) sendiri yang semangat bangun awal :p. Idk, but I'm just a kind of person who values mornings to the fullest. I ain't among those people who sleep after Subuh. but been doing it these days. sob2 :'( and so I made up my mind. I tried my best to think of the things I'm able to and love to do to keep me awake. -at least 3 hours after Subuh.

Hence I sought for the books which used to be mine during high school ages, so I could start my English study from the very beginning. Since I now have about one year more to finish my first degree, one of my current main concerns is about training myself to be a good educator. With Ayah's recommendation, with God's will, I'll start doing Master degree right after I finish my bachelor degree. I've been interested to do TESL, instead of Linguistics or Literature, since I've got the instinct that I'll end up spending my lifetime being an English lecturer. With Ayah's recommendation too, I've been advised to look for an opportunity to begin my career as a language lecturer in Politeknik or any colleges. If tak pun, I will surely be the one educating my own children in a few years time. wahhh berangan nyaa XD. Back to the story, apart from studying English, I helped my mom in marking her students' exam papers; Science and Bahasa Melayu. Well it's a fun thing. Primary school kids are surely fun, with super cute mistakes hihihi. and not only that, I currently got 6 kittens to be taken care of. Kudos to Puteh; the productive mommy cat :)

eh eh. how's my English Iflah Camp for CFS students tu? - Cancelled with honor :)

Though it ain't a good ending, experience can't be bought! I got to know the Head of SLEU more closer and I personally think she's such an awesome woman. I wish I'll be someone like her. It may be hard, but being an educated adult, and an independent woman has been my number one aim since years ago. I did learn a lot from her. It's very rare to find a woman who is so committed with her works in spite of the fact that she stands on her own. Salute :) Most interestingly, she's also a part of Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA), like me :) hihi. Not only that, I also managed to get closer with Aziah; my former colleague when I worked at SLEU back then. We did same things together for about 6 days and it's more than enough to know the real sweet her. Whatever perception I have now, I heart you, adik. We had the best experience ever as we went to KLCC for movie, dragging our big luggage. LOL.

Hmm. enough for now. gotta go back to marking papers, house chores, and yeahh cats' feeding time!

urghhh. This semester break's such a drag! I knew this would happen the moment IIUM announced the absolute change in the Academic Calendar. 2-month break is TOO long to be in. I love being home but since parents are working during the days, I am all alone :( I love waking up early in the morning and being productive. but still, loneliness is seriously not a joke! It's definitely a silent killer. grrr~ I've tried my best to maximize my activities but still... :(

I wish Kak Ana would reply my email and assign me a new translating + subtitling task so I won't have free time to kill. It's been 6 days since I reached home but it feels like years :( I suddenly miss going to classes, finishing up assignments, having group discussions, playing around with besties, etc. I miss UIA. I miss everyone there :(

Fortunately Ramadhan is on its way. InsyaAllah, that one particular month won't be a drag no more; where the days will be spent on driving lessons while the nights will be spent with Solat Tarawikh, insyaAllah :')

and FORTUNATELY I'm going back to UIA this Monday to prepare for another English Camp, which will take place on next weekend. Since I can't apply for LIDV anymore, I'll be staying with Aziah at Dr Aldila's. May everything run well :) It's actually such a great thing that I and Aziah got the opportunity to be involved in 3 likely-to-be-similar camps but for different groups of participants. The first one was the one I had with UPSR candidates, the second one which I just came back from was for PMR and SPM candidates and this time, we'll be with Center for Foundation Studies a.k.a. Matriculation Center of IIUM students. Nice oh :)

Ohh, back to the point, in conclusion, I hate semester break. I hate having free times. I hate being in a situation where there's nothing productive to do :( Ramadhan, come quickly!

The memorable journey to Sandakan.

Howdy, people. It's been two days since I reached home. and since that too, I've been planning to blog on my unforgettable memories in Sandakan. I wish I could upload all photos for permanent storage purpose but I already got tired of uploading half of those huhu. I wish I could write on every single thing happened there but some things are better kept secret :) as what life is, there are sweet as well as bitter memories. Despite those bitterness, all I want to say is that this journey to Sandakan with MISIans is one of the most awesome experiences I ever had in my lifetime! Kudos to all.

5th of July

Around 10pm, all people involved gathered at MISI's Operation Room, located in CCAC building. Final touch-ups were done by the respected main boards and several briefings were given by the Program Manager, Program Coordinator, and me myself as the Assistant Head of Discipline and Ibadah. To be frank, I could feel the nervousness at that time. This is my very first program with MISI, after all :) Before the clock struck 12, we headed to LCCT by IIUM bus and reached there after about 1 hour.

6th of July

Due to certain circumstances, we were divided into two teams. Team A would fly straightly to Sandakan while Team B would reach Kota Kinabalu first. I was included in Team A. Around 7.00 am, we officially began our journey to Sandakan :) It took about 3 hours to reach Sandakan. My back hurt a lot. The worst part was that I couldn't sleep during the last two hours, because of stomach ache. Hence I did anything I could; read all magazines provided, went through the tentative and facilitating modules, etc. I had no one to talk to since Ima seemed to be sleeping so soundly. huhu. Around 10.00 am, the suffering ended! Hello Sandakan, cantiknya airport! I was seriously amazed but before I had the chance to explore, I was in need to find Ladies first. hihi. Then we met Kak Bell and Kak Lala there. They brought us to Kompleks Sukan Sandakan; where we would be staying for one night.

7th of July

After breakfast, we all headed to SMKA Sandakan (SMAS). Nervousnya time ni! In less than 5 minutes time, we reached the school. As told by the PM, who's a former student of SMAS, the school is surprisingly big. We were welcomed by the counseling teacher. Right after storing our luggages, we began our final preparation for the most-awaited Educational Hearten Camp :)

8th of July

As the Discipline and Ibadah committee, I was among the ones who woke up first. Surprisingly, I managed to wake up earlier than others till the last day of program. Breaking the habit, huh? :p The Opening Ceremony of EHC started at 9.00 am sharp (if I'm not mistaken) and ended one hour after that. At 1.30 pm, form 3 and form 5 students of SMAS began reaching the hall for registration and that was when we officially started the program :) We started the modules even until midnight. I was partnered with my Sarawakian course mate: Noor Atiqah Rafa'ie. What a nice person to work with :) Our group was the eleventh one which was then named "Panthera Leo". Great work. It was seriously a tiring day since I was also busy preparing for the Self Enhancement; a slot under Discipline and Ibadah Bureau. I even skipped dinner :( However, the first slot entitled "Adakah Lelaki lebih hebat daripada Wanita" went great. I could see the enthusiasm in every student's face. Each one of them has the potency to excel. They expressed their brilliant point of views. It was extremely excellent :) Around 1.00 pm, we called it a day but only 1 hour after that I managed to close my eyes.

9th of July

The most hectic day ever!~~ Again, I was the earliest one to wake up. If I'm not mistaken, it was 3.50 am in the morning. My head hurt a lot but Alhamdulillah I managed to bear it. I woke all committees up and began calling for all students to go to Musolla for Qiyamullail. Honestly speaking, it was a hard task for me since I ain't such a strict person with a voice which people would be scared of. It hurt when most students were just ignoring my announcement. It hurt more when they replied with such a harsh word. huhuhu :( after Qiyamullail, we had our second Self Enhancement. This time, we dealt with Love issue. Again, it was nice seeing all students were so enthusiastic in voicing out their opinions. After the slot ended, they had breakfast (which I again, skipped) and began the brand-new day with more modules. Throughout the day, I admit that I was a bit strict to my brothers and sisters. I just couldn't help it. My body condition was getting worse at that time hence I couldn't entertain them nicely. For God's sake, it was too painful to bear :( I managed to take lunch but didn't finish all of it due to some personal reasons. huhu. Before the evening session ended, my head of Discipline and Ibadah Bureau assigned me a new task for our next Self Enhancement slot which would take place in 2 hours time. Hence again, I skipped dinner to start the preparation all over again. This time, the discussion was about "Malu". As the previous slots, it went great too and I do hope that all students did learn something from that. It ain't wrong to be shy but it must be according to the context. What I could obviously observe was that most students are too shy in most situations and this is apparently not good for them. It is understandable that they are trained that way but as someone who was also educated in a religious school, their condition is quite critical. Nak masuk musolla pun malu. It ain't embarrassing but rather pathetic. May things get better soon, InsaAllah. At night, we had Islamic Cultural Night; where students had to perform according to the task given. Right after that, we proceeded with Momentous Night; another slot under Discipline and Ibadah Bureau but this time, it was fully handled by Syaufiq. yadda yadda yadda, as usual, we ended the day at around 1.00 pm.

10th of July

Just like previous times, my day began way earlier than others. I was the first one to wake up besides Kak Jijah. After waking up all committees, I rested for a while. I thanked God that Syaufiq decided to cancel the next Self Enhancement slot but replace it with a morning exercise called Break Bone slot. Way better though. We then had our breakfast, which I didn't skip this time sebab tersangatlah lapar huhu. We then proceeded our next modules before I began preparing the emcee text with my pair, Hilda, while others were enjoying their Explorace game. At 2.00 pm sharp, the Closing Ceremony of EHC took place. Frankly speaking, it was the worst experience as an emcee. I was seriously not in a good condition. Fever - sore throat - cough, whatever you name it huhu. However, thanks to Allah that it had ended smoothly. We then headed to Kg. Bokara for the next program; Foster Family. I was adopted by Hjh. Zaharah and Hj. Hassan. The best part was that I was not alone; Izzah Rohimi was under the same family :) We chatted a lot after reaching the house. We also managed to do group visit to other foster families and due to unspeakable weariness, we straightly went to bed after that. ohh, I had fresh sea weeds for dinner! awesomeeeeee :)

11th of July

I initially planned to wake up early to help Mama and others preparing Nasi Lemak and Nasi Kuning. Oh, my foster family owns a stall near the entrance of Kg. Bokara. Mama's a very good cook. I miss her Nasi Lemak the most! Kuih2 pun sangat sedap :) Back to the story, I and Izzah didn't wake up as early as we had planned. We rushed to the bathroom, taking shower, preparing ourselves for the next activity. Our Mama cooked a lot, and of course I ate a lot :p Superb! She even packed some food; which made everyone envy of me hihi. Then we all headed to Sepilok; another amazing adventure. Besides Mount Kinabalu, I had always wanted to visit Sepilok. But since I already paid the Orang Utan a visit at the National Zoo few weeks earlier, I wasn't as excited as I was at the National Zoo back then. However I was glad to see them doing just fine in Sepilok. Sadly, I decided not to join others to go inside the place. -'cause my fear of leeches and things like that exceeded my excitement to see Orang Utan. eeiii. There were a few of us though. Hence we went for post-breakfast at Sepilok cafe. Makan lagi. When it was about Zuhr time, we all had sponsored lunch. Makannnn lagi. Bla bla bla...jalan2 di Sandakan city...we went back to Kg. Bokara for a session with the children of Bokara :) It was nice though. They seemed to enjoy it. Apart from teaching them English, we taught them some other things we did in SMAS. Before Maghrib appeared, we reached our own foster home and got prepared for a mass dinner :) Bla bla bla...balik rumah, tido :)

12th of July

-The final day in Sandakan :( Just like the day before, again, we woke up a bit late huhu malu jak sama Mama and Kak Arida huhuhu :( I thanked them for understanding our condition. I had not had sufficient rest even since our stay in SMAS. My fever was getting better but head ache had not gone yet. After having breakfast, I and Izzah straightly went to Bokara's Balai Raya for Closing Ceremony, where I was suddenly assigned to be the emcee with Abg. Pajil. I wasn't mentally prepared, but Alhamdulillah it wasn't that bad. I was not in a good mood but I did have to put away all those thoughts and feelings. The ceremony was fun though; with Marhaban performance as well as the Igal-Igal dance. Nice :) Then, at around 1.00 pm, we headed to Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan for some briefings and refreshments. Then, jalan- jalan lagi. We hit Pasar Umum Sandakan, for the second time, spending money on souvenirs to be brought back, and then visited Agnes Keith House before it got dark. At around 7.00 pm we arrived at Sandakan Airport as our flight to KL would be at 9.30 pm. Sedihnya huhu :( My foster family even came to the airport to say goodbye. I was deeply moved to tears. I bore that, so I wouldn't be too sad to leave them. There's always another time. If God wills, I'll hit Sandakan again :)

Then after about 3 hours, we safely arrived at LCCT. We had our late dinner together and headed back to UIA. That's when the journey officially ended.

That's it. I miss Sandakan. I miss my Panthera Leo in SMAS. I miss my foster family in Bokara. I miss every single thing happened there. One thing for sure, I'm gonna hit that place again. InsyaAllah :) I love all of you. Thank you for the beautiful memories. Thank you for the wonderful experiences. For God's sake, those memories will never be erased and you will never ever be replaced.

hello Kuala Lumpur! LOL. I'm finally back to KL. Currently spending the remaining days at IIUM before beginning family vacation at Terengganu tomorrow! I am missing each one of 'em. I miss Aleesya! Before I manage to start my 2-month semester break, I already got another offer to be part of the team for an English camp for CFS students on this coming 30th to 31st of July. Will be staying at Prof. Dr. Aldila's; the current director of SLEU. Am so looking forward to working with her. She's awesome :)

I miss Sandakan. I miss my Kg. Bokara family :')

As what my former lecturer had once said; one of the duties as a Muslim is to educate people. Hence, for the sake of that, as well as to fulfill his request, I decided to post my summary of a documentary entitled; An Islamic History of Europe. The documentary can be watched here. Apart from the summary, I also briefly include Harun Yahya's piece of the History of Islam, and some Muslim contributions to the world.

Summary of "An Islamic History of Europe" documentary

This “An Islamic History of Europe” documentary; produced by BBC, hosted by Rageh Omaar, highlights on the influences brought by Muslims to Europe countries. It also emphasizes on the effects of the Islamic civilizations towards Europe. In this documentary, the presenter visited some countries known as Medieval Muslime Europe, which are Spain, Sicily and France, where he could be exposed to the real story of Europe in the past, when its civilization was strongly influenced by Islamic learning. Generally, those who have not seen this documentary would have no idea that Islamic learning did leave such a gigantic impact on the Western world, not only in Arts, but also in Science and Philosophy fields, and that Islamic rule in Europe had made quite a number of achievements in such a short period. It has always been said that European history is much more related to or is fully originated from Greece and Rome. However the reality is that it did receive such a big influence from Islamic civilization. The video starts with the exposition to the time where emirs and caliphs dominated Spain and Sicily. It is also shown that Islamic scholarship had been looked forward to by many scholars of Europe. This proves that Europe owed too much to Islam for its contribution in many fields such as science and culture during the era of European Renaissance. Rageh Omaar had also visited a city of Spain, named Cordoba. From the visit, he managed to discover that Cordoba was once ruled by Muslims. Rageh also managed to be exposed to the moment (13^th century of Paris) where Cristian scholars were wronged by the Church for applying logic in their doctrines. It is believed that it all started due to the writings of Ibnu al-Rushd, a philosopher of Cordoba, who based his writings on Aristotle’s regarding truth and revelation. Back in Spain, Rageh got to see the impressive royal palaces of the Alhambra, Granada. Apart from that, he also got to see the proofs of the knowledge contributed by Muslims such as in Mathematics, Poetry and Architecture. Unfortunately, after a period of time, Muslims had lost their kingdom to Ferdinand and Isabella, the first monarchs of Europe. After spending some time discovering other contributions of Muslims in Spain, Rageh returned back to where he started the journey. The documentary was ended by his visit at the local cemetery of Tarifa, where he found the tombs of unknown people, believed as the modern North African immigrants. In a nutshell, this journey is all about the “Golden Age’, where Muslims knowledge, originated from the East was developed and shared in the West.

Brief History of Islam in Europe by Adnan Oktar

Harun Yahya, an Islamic writer had mentioned in his online article that many historians and sociologists assert today that Islam was the leading cause of Europe's movement from the darkness of its Middle Ages to the brilliance of its Renaissance. At a time when Europe was backward in medicine, astronomy, mathematics, and many other fields, Muslims possessed a vast treasure of knowledge and great possibilities of development. It can be seen that this statement may conclude as well as strengthen what Rageh Omaar had discovered in his Islamic journey. He had also included that Europeans were first realize of the power of Muslims when the caliph ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab took control Jurusalem. Due to that event, Europeans started to be aware that Islam was widely spreading. They then began to fight against Muslims to gain Jurusalem back. As a result of that, Europeans had made contact with the Muslim world, and indirectly lead to the rebirth of Europe which was once dwelled in darkness, conflicts, and war. Europeans then encountered that Islamic world was not only prosperous and civilized, but was also advanced in the fields of medicine, astronomy, mathematics, as well as their social lives. Europeans also found that there were some values that were not available in European world at that time, and they learnt that these values; such as pluralism, tolerance, etc. were the reasons behind Muslims’ high morality, with strong belief upon their religion.

Muslims’ Contributions to the World

In this new era, Islam is rarely seen as the leading source of enlightenment. It is to be aware of that during Middle Ages, it was Islam that had caused Europe to reborn. As Muslims, it is our responsibility to always appreciate every single contribution Islam had made towards European civilization. A few centuries after the Hijrah, Muslim scholars started to obtain treatises from Greek and then began their study translation works. Muslim scholars made critical analysis and corrections towards Greek science and philosophy. That was when the Golden Age of Islam initially began. The Golden Age which lasted for over two centuries is where we can find about Muslims’ contributions in many fields.

Medical Science

Among all fields where Muslim scholars had contributed in, Medical Science is one of the most outstanding ones. Under this field, several important names could be highlighted. The first one is Al-Razi. His greatest achievement of in the realm of medical science is the most comprehensive encyclopedia of medicine ever written by a medical man, which runs into 20 volumes. Al-Razi has also contributed to gynecology, obstetrics, ophthalmology and has written valuable treatise on the treatment of some common diseases in the East. He was also an eminent surgeon and is the inventor of 'Seton' in surgery. Next is Abu Ali Al-Husain-al-Sina. He was one of the greatest intellectuals of the Islamic world. His gigantic work; AlQanun-Fil-Tib is a medical encyclopedia dealing with 760 drugs, as well as with general medicine, simple drugs, and diseases affecting all parts of the body. Besides, Ali Ibn Isa of Baghdad has written an excellent treatise on ophthalmology, a branch of medicine dealing with eye diseases. It was considered the authoritative work on eye diseases in Europe till the middle of the 18th century.

Scientific Inventions

Among significant Muslim scholars to be highlighted on is Abul Hasan, who is distinguished as the inventor of the Telescope. Another invention made by Muslim scholar was the first watch. It was created by Kutbi, a renowned watch-maker of his time (Abbasid reign). At that time a watch was considered a novel thing and an object of wonder in Europe. Other than that, Mir Fatehullah Khan is known as the inventor of gun and gunpowder. The presumption that gunpowder was first made by the Chinese does not stand the test of historical research. Next, Ibn Firnas is credited with making glass from stones. He even had constructed his home as a sort of planetarium where one could see stars, clouds and even lightning.

Music

A wrong impression has been created in the minds of our educated class that Islam forbids all pursuits of fine arts. The fact is that Muslim scholars have patronized and actively participated in the propagation of fine arts. For instance, Al-Kindi is one of the greatest Arab theorists, who has written about a dozen treatises on music. His works contain a notation for the determination of pitch. Al-Khwarizmi, the greatest mathematician of the Islamic world is the author of the Key of sciences in which he discussed the theory of music.

The awesome denouement of semester 3, session 2010/2011

Semester 3 finally reached its end the moment I stopped writing my answers for Topics in Islamic Literature final exam questions. It was great. Albeit the depressing Continuous Assessment Marks, Alhamdulillah, I managed to organize my answers well. I even requested an extra paper from the invigilator since I happened to fill up all spaces provided before concluding the ramblings. Hence I stepped out grinning while searching for the girl friends. Short semester always gives a bigger impact on me, as compared to the normal long semester. Like the previous one, more precious memories were created during short semester; with less dramatic effects and more real scenes. Through group works which were done in a rush, our friendship bond has become stronger. We got closer. During the non-stop 3-hour classes, we learned to value each other as we struggled to survive together. LOL.

I love you, girl friends. Thanks a million for the priceless moments we spent together. I’m gonna miss the day we had lunch together, laughed our asses off, and did silly things in the car, etc. I’m gonna miss all of you :) To the dearest lecturers, Dr. Ismail Ahamad Shah and Dr. Md. Mahmudul Hasan, thank you so much for the lectures. You both are the best. Though I’m certain that you often caught me yawning and looking sleepy in class, I honestly value every single word of yours. Thank you so much. May Allah grant you both with His eternal love. Amiin.

Will be going back to UIA in 2 days time. We’ll all depart from UIA to Sandakan this Wednesday morning. There are countless things that I’m so looking forward to facing now. May everything run well, InsyaAllah. All the best!

well, I don't wanna talk much about this program 'cause to be frank, it's quite a dramatic one. The one I never experienced and ever expected before. Basically, it sucked. (Too much, I guess). Hmm, too much dramas and kurang professionalism. Enough said.

As for now, I'm struggling to finish up all assignments and mid term exams. Short semester will come to its end in about 3 weeks time! and I surely don't want these two subjects let me down.

This ain't a drug. But I'm addicted to it.

Hello, gorgeous! Above is me, (photo's been deleted. hihi) trying a Forever-21 night dress. It was the day where I went out having lunch at Seoul Garden, One Utama with the lovely girl friends; Faten, Faliqeen, and Haneesa. Had a great moment chatting, gossiping, and window shopping though :)

Classes have been starting since last week. Having 3-hour classes are killing but I somehow do enjoy 'em. I love both classes. Error and Contrastive Analysis class is fun 'cause the topics discussed themselves are fun, and Dr. Ismail is too nice to be ignored :) While Topics in Islamic Literature is also fun, 'cause again, though it's a literature subject but it specifically touches on Islamic aspects hence I like it. Dr. Mahmudul Hasan is nice too. What amazes me the most is that he's a very organized person! and he's very helpful too. Frankly speaking, it's actually rare to find one like him :)

Apart form classes, I'm still doing the translating + subtitling job I used to do before. It's quite tiring but I'm thankful that at least there'll be no chance to waste time.

Apart from classes and part-time job, there'll be a few programs to join. From 27th to 29th July, I'll be a mentor for an educational program organized by SENDI club. Because of that, I just rejected an invitation to become the emcee for a seminar on Teacher's Day, since there's a clash in time between these two. Wish I could have both. Never mind lah, rejecting the most awaited opportunity is way better than breaking a promise I made earlier :) Next, Mak Ayah had permitted me to join a program conducted in Sandakan, Sabah. Yay! But need to work a lot to save money for that. Before getting my ass there, on 9th July, I need to attend the MAKNA Introductory Programme (MIP), which is compulsory to all volunteers. and yah, I just signed up to be a volunteer of MAKNA! Unexpectedly, MAKNA has scheduled a lot of programs throughout this year. Oh my~ I'm SO looking forward to joining a few of them.

And a few days after I come back from Sabah, I'll be attending the Basic Mission Training (BMT) of MERCY. I really2 wish I can make it this time since I had missed the one held during previous final exam week. *pray hard*

That's all for now. Had so much things to do. Two assignments have been received and due dates are just around the corner. And yah, Mid Term Exam is on its way too! *trembling*

Hello, lovely! It’s been a while huh. Three reasons for that: I enjoy Tumblr and Twitter more, I have fewer points to write about these days, and as simple as it sounds; I am a lazybones. Tomorrow will be the last day of this semester break. Just like other IIUM-mates, I dislike this so much yet I can’t wait to begin short semester. Loads of things must be done and accomplished. Despite the fact that I enjoy being home, I love short semester so much. There’ll still be classes, quizzes, assignments, heartaches, heartbreak, melancholia, (over-nya) etc, but there’ll also be ample time for other fun, necessary activities! Yadda yadda yadda. As usual, the introduction has the possibility to be way longer than the highlights.

So here is my point. Since I am now officially a fourth-year English Linguistics major, I can’t stop myself from keep thinking about the plans for the future more seriously. I need and must be clear about what I want, and what I have to do. Well I ain’t going to talk about career thingy here (frankly speaking I am still dwelling in confusion regarding this matter) but rather a general picture of the ones I wish to become.

I wanna be a moderate being who lives a simple yet meaningful life. Mind you, wealth guarantees nothing. In short, I wanna be a man of value. I don’t mind living in poor ‘cause what matters most is that I consistently be thankful for every single thing I have and enjoy every single thing I do.

I wanna be a woman who faithfully devote herself to The Almighty, and at the same time is so knowledgeable about worldly affairs. Also, I aim to be a woman who will never go against her life principles, a woman who always speaks her mind and never afraid of voicing out the truth, yet is still maintaining the ideal characteristics of a Muslimah. Briefly, I wanna be a woman who shakes the world and at the same time, a woman of religion.

I wanna be an independent adult who will never ever be blindly depending upon a guy called husband. I may end up being a single parent. And if that happens, I only have God, and my own self to be relied on. God knows better.

I wanna be an educator whose aim is to shower the younger generation with both religious and world knowledge. I wanna be the first, qualified one teaching languages to my children as well as the first reliable person to teach them Al-Qur‘an. (remember, ilmu yang dimanfaatkan dibawa mati)

I wanna be a daughter who always pleases her parents, repays them for every marvelous thing they have done. Obviously it won’t be enough. Only God has the capability to repay them but surely I won’t just stand still but indeed, do my best to give them the best. They deserve it, after all.

I wanna keep being a volunteer who will never stop contributing to the society. Life is all about sharing. I don’t have much money to be donated but energy and enthusiasm. (amal jariah juga dibawa masuk kubur)

I wanna keep being an animal lover, namely a cat lover, who sacrifices his food whenever he sees a hungry cat. Animals deserve a good life too.

I wanna be a wife who never stops supporting her husband financially, mentally, and emotionally, etc. I wanna be my husband’s backbone; the one he can count on in all matters. I wanna be his best friend; who will always be there for him, his life partner; who wills to share and lend everything he wishes for, etc. In brief, I wanna be the one whom he feels his life won’t be complete without. I wanna be the reason for him to always smile, in whatever situations; be it sweet or bitter. I wanna be the reason for him to move on, lead a good life if I happen to meet the Maker first.

I wanna be a mother who is capable of providing enough care, love, as well religious and world knowledge to the children. I wanna have the ability to read fairy tales to my children yet never forget to enrich their knowledge about the prophets. I wanna be the first one my children will look for whenever they have things to share, discuss, etc. I wanna shape them to be the ones who will keep praying for me when I slip away.

For the time being, I will keep being the 22-year-old-Nabila-Hanis-who-always-refuses-to-admit-that-she-is-22-but-rather-21, (ha-ha) who is never tired of discovering things, improving herself, and at the same time praying hard to achieve everything she aims on.

Enough for now. Before I end this post and before mommy keeps knocking the door to wake me up for Subuh, do bear this in mind;

So don’t ever live a life just because you need to, but because you have to. Remember;

Therefore, do have faith in God, have faith in yourself. Most importantly, Never lose hope. And just like Bieber says; Never say never. LOL.

Good day, buddies! Have you ever thought of the benefits you may get from the consumption of Tempe? Well, there's a lot. Here goes the briefer version which I just summed up;

# Tempe contains:

Carbohydrate, Fat, Protein, Vitamin, Enzyme, as well as anti-bacteria components which are undoubtedly good for health.

# It is believed that Tempe may prevent:

Anemia and Osteoporosis.

# A research conducted by researchers from North Carolina University, USA had discovered that Tempe may also prevent:

Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, as well as Aging. (Whoa!)

So for those who dislike eating Tempe (it is understandable that its taste is somehow weird), maybe you should have a second thought on it? Well, it may turn into a delicious (most importantly, edible ha-ha) meal if it's cooked nicely. If you're a health conscious type of person like me, instead of having it fried, it can be boiled and put into veggie soup, etc. Sedap lah jugak. Give it a try and you'll know yourself :)

Howdy, gorgeous! I’ve always wanted to post about the products I’ve been using all this while. It’s been a typical topic of conversation between me and friends. And now for the purpose of gaining more feedbacks and testimonies, I bet here would be a good medium.

Anyway, one thing for sure, I’m just sharing this. What’s work on me may not work on you.

Toothpaste: Colgate Advanced Whitening. This toothpaste had caused me a habit, (a good one, I guess) that I brush my teeth as frequent as I like. I brush my teeth wherever I go; be it shopping mall, campus, and so on. It does leave a fresh feeling which other tooth pastes are not capable of.

Toothbrush: Most people aren't really taking this matter seriously. Any kind of toothbrush would be fine for them. Whatever you choose first and foremost, the key is the bristles. Choose ones with soft bristles. My options are Colgate and Oral B. Most recommended by dentists would be Oral B.

Tooth Polisher: This is for those who’re concerned about the look of their teeth. Tooth polisher makes your teeth look clean. As for myself, after using Pearl Drops Tooth Polish, I’ll get the feeling of being polished at dental clinic. Really.

Tooth Floss: This is vital! Flossing your teeth after brushing is so important! Do not simply take ones that are affordable. The cheap ones are usually quite thick which may widen the space between your teeth. For this category, I vote for Oral B!

Tongue Cleaner: Just get one that fancies yourself. Haha. This is so important too. Tongue cleaner works way more effective than tooth brush. I forgot the brand of mine. Thus, brand-less.

Tooth Whitener: This is not really necessary. I used to use Pearl Drops Gloss Tooth Whitener before switching to Colgate Advanced Whitening tooth paste. But mind you, it does a very excellent job. I admit it. Your teeth will look whither and brighter in less than two weeks but here’s the thing; it’s way pricey. Last time I bought it, it costed about 40 bucks.

Face Cleanser & Toner: Both my opted cleanser and toner are not available at any shop or pharmacy. I have a very oily skin and I easily get pimples on it if I miss cleansing it properly. The products I’m now using are from Tana Mera, introduced by my former roommate whose sister runs a beauty spa and principally use this brand. It’s the best for me so far. I’ve tried so many products, from the cheap ones like Garnier and the costly ones like Sendayu Tinggi and Shiseido. But these ones work the best on my face skin. The cleanser itself, can also function as face scrub and mask. Amazing, ain’t it? Plus, since it ain’t in liquid form, it lasts long. Money-saving!

Deodorant: this is another product which ain’t available at most shops ‘cause the one I’m using is from Amway Body Series. Mom is the person-in-charge of providing this to me every month. *chuckle*. And yea, speaking of deodorant, I just discovered that those from Rexona, The Body Shop and Nivea contain a poison called ‘Ftalat’, which is dangerous for production system. Something like that lah. For more accurate and reliable information, google it yourself. Heh.

Body Shower Foam: When it comes to shower foam, I'll never look for those whose primary functions are to moisturize or whiten skin but rather ones that help in preventing any infections caused by bacteria. So my all-time choices would be Lifebuoy, Dettol, and Protex.

Shampoo & Conditioner: For these two, I don’t have much to say ‘cause I’m still in search of shampoo and conditioner that work well on my hair. But so far, I’m using Herbal Essences and emm, so-so lah.

Face scrub & Face mask: Lovely ladies, I’d like to recommend you these! These are the best! Among the things I look for when I’m under stress. LOL. Both are from Mustika Ratu.

Body scrub: These work very well too. Initially recommended by my sister. You can really feel the scrubbing effect on your skin. As a result, you’ll get a very soft and smooth skin. Trust me! I’m reliable. LMAO. It's Sari Ayu, btw. I've tried out Sari Buah and Bengkoang Whitening. So much relaxing!

Body lotion: I don’t really put lotion on my body. Simply because I dislike the sticky effect it leaves on my skin. But the one I’m using now, which is Vaselline Aloe Body Lotion ain’t that sticky plus it leaves your skin cool and fresh.

Compact Powder & Foundation: For these two I’m using Maybelline Angel Fit. For real, pimple scars are gone. (temporarily lah) *giggle*

Lip balm: Whoa. When it comes to lip care, I'm a loyal consumer of Vaseline!. The best ever! For more effective result, put it on before you sleep, and when you wake up, wipe it off with face tissue. Your lips’ dead cells will be removed as well hence your lips will remain reddish and moist throughout the day.

Body Talc: I only prefer Aiken Medicated Talc. 'cause apart from avoiding my skin from becoming oily, it helps in preventing such skin irritations. Highly recommended by pharmacists.

Okay, that’s it I guess. One last thing, to avoid bad breath, don’t forget to bring along such sweets or chewing gums like Dentyne or extra. The easiest option is by getting your own breath spray. I do have one but I rarely use it since I always have Dentyne chewing gum with me. Oh, frequent consumption of plain water may also help in avoiding bad breath. So do drink a lot, bring it wherever you go, especially if you talk a lot, like me. Huk2.

And yea, please lah don't ever forget to bring along a hand sanitizer whenever you go out. If bacteria at your hands are visible, you'll surely go euww yucks~!!

Who says a boyfriend can always be a source of happiness? Love is like heaven, but it can hurt like hell. So, why do I think, to some extent, having a boyfriend is just a boring, annoying thing? Here there go;

A boyfriend, as much as you want him to be, isn’t a girl. Though you are sharing similar interests, but still, it won’t be the same. He won’t be seeing Gossip Girls the way you do. And sometimes for some reasons, this is just way annoying. He won’t be able to indulge in some girly stuff, get mani/pedi’s (or even understand why you get them), want to have a makeover, wear face masks, etc.

Having a boyfriend means having to deal with another set of rules and issues. This can be really tough if the right time hasn’t come yet.

Love relationships are time-consuming. All of a sudden, you have less time for friends, extra-curriculars, hobbies, and everything else that filled your life before he came along. And if things finally do not work between you guys, gah, what a waste of time!

Single girls do not have to have guilt when staring at hot people who strike their fancy. LOL.

No flirting or dating anymore! Sure, you go out together, but flirting with a new person is just so fun! And no matter how bad a first date goes, it’s always a thrilling adventure and risk!

A boyfriend will not make you feel secure. Nope. He won’t. You have to find that inside of YOU. He won’t be able to bring it out of you. Nu-uh! Stop it. Inside,YOU.

Even had this pop through your head? ”I don’t have a boyfriend, and if I don’t have a boyfriend it means that boys aren’t attracted to me, and if boys aren’t attracted to me it means that I’m ugly.” Wow! It’s way wrong reasoning! Having a boyfriend will not validate your looks. Boys attention, in general, will not actually make you feel any prettier. You’re pretty. And that’s final.

Who wants to have to explain what cap sleeves, the difference between a skirt and dress, yada yada yada?

So, single girls, enjoy yourself, live your life to the fullest! Someday, when you least expect it, the right guy will show up and change your world.

Remember, be happy. ‘cause the happiest girls are the prettiest! To look great, you don’t need those fancy and pricey accessories, but two things called Confidence and Smile :)

hello world! hari ini saya gembira sangat. sebab apa? sebab Ayah saya bawak jalan2 beli makan2. only two of us :) auwww~ we bought loads of food to be brought back home. Oh my~ I love my Ayah to bits for pampering me like a small kid. Well, I am. and will always be his small kid. *giggle* and yeah, I finally got the tempe I've been craving for ages! *grin* will rock the kitchen tomorrow. -Tempe ala jawa. oh my~~ *drooling*

and for tomorrow, we'll all go out to look for a brand new car for the sister. Lucky you! Speaking of her, there's no single soul in this world I am envious of but her. She's just reached her ideal weight, got so many customers for her Herbalife business, offered a job as a Research Assistant to her lecturer while completing her Master degree, and now, Ayah's gotta buy her a brand new car. hey world! Just letting you know that I ain't like those pathetic girls whose worlds are all about a guy called boy-friend. Also, I ain't like those undignified girls whose worlds stop spinning because of some guys. and yea, I ain't that effing desperate to have a boyfriend for the time being. Having an amazing supportive family, super-awesome friends, is more than enough. Alhamdulillah, I won't ask for more :)

p/s: will be spending the remaining two-week holiday with deary family :) here, and Terengganu. I love each one of them to bits. Will never be as strong as I am now without them.

why Sign Language?

Hello, gorgeous! as I stated in my previous posts, I wanted to spend this semester break on learning Sign Language. Every time I mentioned about this to my buddies, the same question would come up: Why Sign Language?

Since I was at the Centre of Foundation Studies, I never had a semester break without a plan. It's become my habit to plan something before final exam ends because I hate myself for being unproductive. I hate having free time without doing anything. I spent my previous semester break on reading all children books that are available in this house. (since parents are both teaching primary school students, we have loads in here). It may sound nothing but it's like a serious mission to me because the objective was not just to read, but to enrich my vocabularies, polish up my grammar use, as well as my pronunciation since I read 'em out loud. Alhamdulillah it did help me in improving my pronunciation especially when I had to emceeing for several programs in campus. Plus, it brought back those good memories of my childhood days. auww. But unfortunately, I didn't manage to finish reading ALL of them since I was also busy with my part-time translating + subtitling job.

Whoa. Too much for introduction. Okay, back to the headline (ceh), why Sign Language? Why not other foreign languages? I see a good point there. Since I was at school, my passion has always been languages. (In this case, specifically English Language) I was called 'Miss Grammar' by my English teacher when I was at Form 3. I used to be my friends' reference when it comes to doing English home works, etc. Apart from that, I also enjoy studying Arabic Language, maybe because I've been exposed to Arabic since I was at primary school. But it's pathetic that my Arabic ain't as good as my English. In short, I am a person whose interest is into languages, and does perform quite well at that too. And that may explain why I am doing Bachelor of English Language and Literature (majoring in English Linguistics).

So, back to the point, as a student majoring in English studies, I am aware that in order to have a wider job scope in the future, I need to be good at other things too. That is why a lot of my course mates are doing minor in other fields such as Psychology, Communication, Political Science, Business, etc. I am doing a minor too- Islamic Revealed Knowledge. But still, it ain't enough for me. I always tell myself that I need something that I really am good at it so I'd be flexible, and have the capability to jump into any job scopes in the future. However, if we are not into any minor courses, we may opt to study any foreign languages. That will bring a bright opportunity to be a translator, or work at the embassy, and much more. I myself had tried studying foreign languages, like Mandarin and Korean. I even had tried mastering Hangul. But due to lack of time, money, and good teachers, I gave up and quit half way. One fact about learning foreign language: the older we are, the harder language learning would be. English majors must know this. Critical Period Theory may explain about this in more accurate manner.

Hence, I decided to quit and just proceed to master in Arabic Language. That will do more good to me.

However, though I've made up my mind, my interest is still there. The enthusiasm to learn something that will do good to my future job is still there. So one day, I spent the whole day dwelling upon it, and voila! -Sign Language. It may take years to call myself a good user of sign language but hey world, I ain't that old. Once I started reading on it, I found it more interesting than others since it requires frequent practise with hand and body gestures.

Apart from that, I believe Sign Language will be useful to me someday. Life is all about possibilities; I may give birth to a deaf child, I may want to adopt a deaf child, I may end up being a speech therapist, I may be biologically related to deaf people in the future (in whatever way), and most importantly, I myself may not be a normal person for ever. I may be involved in an accident which causes me to be a deaf person thus I'll be needing sign language so badly. The point is, anything may happen. and also, there's no wrong of learning sign language.

So yeah, I am putting a full stop here so I can continue reading about Sign Language.

But before that, let's have a look at an extract from an online article that had inspired me to learn SL in the first place :)

Albert Mehrabian, a well known psychologist, discovered that:

only 7 percent of the meaning conveyed by typical utterance regarding our feelings and attitudes comes from the words we use,

38 percent from our voice,

and 55 percent from our body language.

When our body language conflicts with our words, listeners will typically pay more attention to our nonverbal message. (Mehrabian, 1972).

the book I've been reading since last Thursday.

I know this sounds absurd. I do want a baby of my own. I've been planning to do so since I was at high school. No, no. I didn't mean of getting pregnant thingy but rather adopting a child. Well of course this intention had totally been rejected by parents and one of my sisters. She even scared me off by persuading me to watch 'The Orphan'. LOL.

but yeah, I think I'm sticking to it. Since I'm not in any serious love relationship thus I've started making a life plan without including any existence of a guy called husband or at least, boy friend.

A child is way better huh. Perhaps after I manage to be financially stable.

hmm. I wish I could think of anybody whom I may consult with about this more seriously.

again, we spent the day showing off our tremendous voices at Red Box, Sogo.

it felt so great this time. greater than before. much much greater.

and as usual, Evanescence's, BSB's, Blue's, Britney's, Gaga's were our ultimate choices.

especially Blue! Blue rocks! XD

but it's pathetic that I didn't find any of Grace Potter's and A Fine Frenzy's. Emm :(

oh my. must be on strict diet throughout semester break!
